Interior Designs for your Home

Make-overs are not just for you. Your home can do with some make over as well especially if you have been living there for quite a long time and haven’t had the time or opportunity to do anything about it. Fashion in all aspects do change. So not only do you need to change what you wear to be fashionable, your home décor could use with some changes too to complement the latest trend.

Start in you living room. This is normally the first place you take your guests when you have a gathering or party. So this room serves more than one function, you just don’t sit and watch TV in it. The make over you can do with this room should of course reflect your style. One thing to take note of is that by creatively placing certain ornaments you can also separate the room into several spaces. If you are not keen on repainting it then work around the paint color when buying or making curtains, rugs etc. if your old couch seem sturdy enough and still serviceable then why not have it re-upholstered instead of completely buying a new one? Place your décor around as you please. If you have a wonderful piece of ornament (maybe more) from one of your travels then evenly position them around so as you tour the guests around you can also tell wonderful and memorable stories about each one.

Then on to your kitchen. Kitchens are important. Well primarily, a lot of family time is spent in this room. this is where you eat together, cook food together, have a bottle of beer or two, spend talking with each other, hang out and have a mid night snack maybe. Kitchens are witnesses to a lot of crazy, fun and sad moments in a family’s life that’s why this room should be well taken care of. This room should be naturally sunny but if not have it repainted with some light paint or choose a wall paper that’s kind of cheerier. Make sure that the dining table and chair  are still in good condition, have the necessary repairs made if not. Cabinets and cupboards must be within reach on the cooking area. You can even have it decorated with the children’s art. Take your kid’s drawings and have them framed. When they get older they would love to see it hanging on the wall no matter how much they protest at first. It will remind them of their childhood years.

The bedroom is your own sanctuary and you can therefore decorate it however you like it. bear in mind though that this is where you relax, spend quality time with your partner maybe. Changing the curtains and sheets will do for some, however after several years everything looks worn and maybe dreary. So go and repaint it if possible. Choose relaxing colors over bold ones. one other important thing here are the lights. You need to have proper lighting for the bedroom, something romantic when you are in the mood or to get you in the mood and something relaxing when you want to just rest before going to bed. Have a nightstand with a table lamp for your reading needs if you’re the type.
